The weekly Women's Wednesdays at Lucky Shots are open to women looking for league play in northeast Minneapolis. Shawn Hester, the director of operations at Lucky Shots, said women's leagues at the facility quickly fill up and the competition is fierce. Hester said the split between men and women at the business is close to 50/50.
Players said the leagues have built a community. "I wanna come in here, I wanna have a good time. I wanna play with all these amazing ladies every week," Heidi Hiltos of Minneapolis said. Hiltos said she started out playing about one day a week and moved up to three or four.
Mary Shuman of New Brighton said she plays five days a week, four hours a day. "It's just fun," Shuman said.
Lucky Shots also holds a large women's tournament in March called A Paddle of Their Own. Players can find league details on the Lucky Shots website or at the club.
